Laparoscopic surgery is carried out through a few small openings using a camera, instead of one long cut across the abdomen. Women generally have far less pain afterwards, go home sooner, and are back to household and working life more quickly.
Not every case suits the keyhole approach. Size, previous surgery and the nature of the problem all matter, and the safer route is chosen after examination and reports.
