Fibroids are very common and many need no treatment at all. What decides the plan is not the fibroid itself but what it is doing: heavy bleeding, pressure, anaemia, or difficulty conceiving.
Where surgery is needed and the woman still wants children, removing the fibroid while keeping the uterus is the aim wherever that is safely possible.
When to see the doctor

- A lump or heaviness in the lower abdomen
- Passing urine very often, or difficulty passing it
